Having problem with "view new content"

Every time I click on the "view new content " button I get a "sorry no new content found" message.
????
This has been going on a few days now.
Please help!

When you click on "view new content", look all the way to the left of the page. Make sure that "new since my last visit" is selected under time period. Have had a few members have this problem and that was the culprit. It appears to change on its on in this situation as well. Hope this does it. Let me know please.

"since my last visit" was checked but so was "only items I follow"
I unchecked that one and that fixed it.
I don't know how that happened?
