with the Ernie Watts Quartet - Ernie on tenor sax, Marc Seales on piano, Bruce Lett on bass, and Kay on drums - great group, and incredible drumming!

I was impressed with Mr Kay's drive, groove, and imagination ..... but especially with his touch and the resultant dynamics.

Coincidentally, just happened to be looking at the credits on the 2nd Steely Dan album - Countdown to Ecstasy - (because of the earlier thread about the incredible Ukrainian cover of "My Old School") ....... and there was ....... Ernie Watts in the horn section! Cool small world ....... !

Great night of music at The 222 Gallery in Healdsburg CA ......

Kendall and Bruce are both excellent and can provide a burning and creative backdrop for any soloist.
I've worked with Bruce many times and Kendall I've admired for years. Kudos for getting out to hear live jazz.
BTW I remember when Ernie Watts toured with the Stones and not in a horn section but as solo sax.
