Picked this up in a swap today. 7"x14"x1/2" Multiple plys: 7-9 depending on how I count them. Have not identified the inner and outer ply wood. No badge or possible ID marks. The butt plate is a Lugwig and the throw off has been changed out, leaving an extra mount hole. Cheap Pearl wire set (replacing in any case). Wood rims with inset for the drum head, using claws for tensioning. Rumored to have come from Toronto or Quebec.

Any help appreciated.

The lugs remind me of what Gerry Garcia was putting on his drums for a while....but no badge?....AFAIK, Gerry didn't do that.
Nice drum, otherwise.
Local buy?

The claws remind me of Kevin Pinson's work (Bearing Edge) but that is not his lugs. Nice looking drum regardless through!

Beautiful drum, Amosguy. How does it sound?
Loud and crisp. Rim shots likely cut thru most anything. And that is with the cheap pearl snare wire set. Gonna experiment with some other wires in the basement stash.

Looks like a custom build. Maybe Champaign drum lugs, wood hoops w clips. I don’t recognize the clips. Looks like a really nice drum

You got close......Very Close - different spelling..... It is a Champagne Drum, with older style clips. A friend tracked it down featured on the Champagne Drum FB page. My drum is featured there. Check out his other snares on the FB page. Outstanding work. Glad this fell into my lap from someone who didn't really know what this was.

I email with the owner, Greg, makes custom snares. Apparently his own design lugs as well. Said the outer (maybe inner as well) is Wenge veneer from Africa.
