Hi gang. Some time ago i bought some quite unuseual wrap. There are two different colors/patterns.
One of them is like a normal wmp pattern but with a crazy color mix. I have seen this wrap before on a dunnett drum, and also on a geo way or leedy reissue drum. People tend to call it clown puke or clown barf (go figure)
The other one is also a color mix but much darker, and in a more topo gold pattern.

I believe the smaller sample strip is Precision Drums topo gold, which sometimes looks gold, purple, and or brown depending on the lighting. http://www.precisiondrum.com/Topo_Gold_s.jpg

Drop them a note and Gary and the boys will send you a sample.

As far as the dreaded "Clown Puke" wrap, there was someone in England that had some last year. Google search, with a barf bag handy.  {E-bay UK ?

Thanks for your reply, Bill.
Both wraps are in size to wrap 14x6,5" snare drums, they are just rolled together in the pic. The smallest visible piece is not topo gold, I have sheets with topo gold lying around, and they are not at all the same, but the pattern is quite similar.

You mention seeing it on a Dunnett drum. Have you contacted him?

It's actually quite colorful.

Looks like it might be a Delmar Product?

I like the wrap on that Leedy.
Probably a Delmar product. They make LOTS of patterns that don't end up as drum wrap.

Unfortunately it's not made by Delmar.
It's thinner than the Delmar pearl equivalent. It also has a different plastic protective film. It also smells different( almost like some sort of citrus dish soap) when sanded on the backside. I think this is more like that old-school celluloid stuff that Delmar don't produce anymore due to environmental issues.

I too am trying to find this wrap - should anybody have any ideas as to where or who might we contact we would really appreciate it. It almost looks like a recycled plastic of some form. Dan Paul

That's the infamous "clown puke" wrap. There was a guy in England selling this.

I saw that on one of the Chinese business sites. I don't think they were selling by the sheet, more like $2k for starters

Good luck. Might call some custom builders and see if they have any scraps in the shop.

I'm going to give a HUGE plug here for a company that sells wrap.

I just scored the wrap no longer made, known as LUDWIG OYSTER BLUE (1960's version), from Bum Wrap Drum Company. They take a digital picture of the real thing and make a high quality wrap for about half the price as Precision and Jammin Sam.

I'm very pleased with the quality, and when I complete my recover projects I'll post some pictures to show you how nice I think it looks.
