Any tricks on this?

I should specify. I mean the insides and edges of the hoops.

The outside was "easy" because its on my stand/arm that I used for the drums.

Its the inside of the hoop that is logically giving me trouble. Maybe there is a really obvious solution i am missing

I sand lightly and prep. I then use matte black spray paint and hold the hoop so I am able to do 90% of it (all sides except where my hand is. I usually hold the worst area of the hoop (road rash, etc.), which will be the bottom of the hoop when it's on the drum. I have an old wire hanger and then let it hang to dry. Once I hit 2-3 sprays, and it's looking good and is dry, then I hold the painted area and finish off....easy peasy.....
