Ludwigs in the Basement
The headline says it all, but it’s still surprising that the people who run Evans sat in a room somewhere and said (1.) Let’s change it and (2.) Let’s go with the fat, schmushed-together lettering.
Check your math — 2019 wasn’t “decades” ago.... that's been their logo for decades.
None of those changes have anything to do with the Evans word mark, the part you’re criticizing.![]()

Evans. Damn, They Did It Again..... Logo Change!
So without a word to the public, including us dealers who sell the heads, Evans redesigned their logo on the drum heads. Gone is the Level 360 circular look. Now it's Evans underlined and the head model number. Nothing on the internet that's obvious about this. The old boxes are still being...www.drumforum.org
The real problem is how much this new logo will affect the sound. Thanks for alerting us all to this game-ending product development. The headline says it all, but it’s still surprising that the people who run Evans sat in a room somewhere and said (1.) Completely agree. All I know is after playing coated Ambassadors for nearly 40 years, switching to UV1's has been a very good reason to like Evans no matter the logo. Incredible product.
What do you like better about Evans?Completely agree.
They did change the "E" slightly (3rd leg is longer now), but the general wordmark is the same.Looking at a screenshot I took from a 2012 issue of Modern Drummer compared to the logo currently on the Evans website, the actual lettering for the word "Evans" hasn't really changed much. The kerning has just been applied more consistently, and the letters have a little more internal space.

Not to mention losing the oval and adding DRUMHEADS and removing USA. Other than that, nearly the same.Looking at a screenshot I took from a 2012 issue of Modern Drummer compared to the logo currently on the Evans website, the actual lettering for the word "Evans" hasn't really changed much.
