The headline says it all, but it’s still surprising that the people who run Evans sat in a room somewhere and said (1.) Let’s change it and (2.) Let’s go with the fat, schmushed-together lettering.

... that's been their logo for decades.
Check your math — 2019 wasn’t “decades” ago.

None of those changes have anything to do with the Evans word mark, the part you’re criticizing.

Try again.

I think it's nice; the "56" logo I think is Badazz
Still won't switch from Belli

Evans just needs to cultivate "the Funk"; they have it in their company history; they just need to exploit - lean on it- more..
the organic funk

Though it no longer exists, here’s a photo from flyover country for you ‘coasters. I remember seeing this painted on a building in Dodge City Kansas, the original home of Evans. A bit has changed since then.

The real problem is how much this new logo will affect the sound. Thanks for alerting us all to this game-ending product development.

Looking at a screenshot I took from a 2012 issue of Modern Drummer compared to the logo currently on the Evans website, the actual lettering for the word "Evans" hasn't really changed much. The kerning has just been applied more consistently, and the letters have a little more internal space.

They did change the "E" slightly (3rd leg is longer now), but the general wordmark is the same.

And that logo goes back significantly longer than that -- this picture is from 2001:

Not to mention losing the oval and adding DRUMHEADS and removing USA. Other than that, nearly the same.
