I have just been made aware that our own Mike Layton, long time member and valued Admin to the site was killed in a motorcycle accident last night.
Here is what I know. RIP my friend, man this is ugly.

"According to reports, Layton was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle on US-601 near Lachicotte Road in Lugoff, when for unknown reasons, the bike went down around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Layton was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation."

Oh my.... Completely stunned and heartbroken. I talked to Mike at the Chicago shows and joked that we should carpool there from the Carolinas. He was a true gentleman. A big guy with an even bigger heart. What a HUGE loss. Thank you for letting us know.

This is a tough loss to take . Mike and I have had a lot of conversations over the years remotely and I finally got the chance to meet him a few years back at the Chicago Show . Mike was an outstanding admin here . He was fair and listened to both viewpoints when there were disputes. He is sorely missed as an Admin here and has been since he stepped down .

Mike had a wicked sense of humour and did not suffer fools gladly let me tell you . He had an excellent ear for cymbals and his love of Ludwig’s Black Galaxy wrap was well known .

I am going to miss you Mike , you were a good friend .
