Horrible news...our own Mike Layton has passed on.

Makes me wish I had known him better , it warms my heart to know he had great humor and did not suffer fools ….
Those are great qualities that I aspire to .

I am so sad to hear this, I had a bunch of online interactions with him and bought a snare from him way back. From our many interactions he seemed like a good guy. My family's thoughts and prayers go out to his family, loved ones, and friends!

Devastating to hear this. I never met Mike. But, having spent 14 years on the forum, I've always taken note (as I'm sure many have) that his posts here were always informative and done with class. He struck me as someone who would be great to talk to. I'm sure he had many cherished friends. Sincere condolences and prayers for peace to his family and loved ones.

Super guy, we use to talk a lot through p/m’s.
I am BEYOND DEVASTATED to hear that Mike has died so suddenly. I was just messaging with him. I’ve known Mike for years but never gotten to meet face to face. We had spoken many times about meeting each other, and this summer it was supposed to happen when my family went to SC on vacation. Unfortunately Mike was struggling with Covid at the time and we could not meet up. Here was his last message to me on Thursday night:
Mike, I still look forward to meeting you one day.

So sorry to all his friends here and of course his family. Mike was always willing to help and share his knowledge. He once tracked down some parts I needed and connected me with someone who had them just out of kindness. Looking back over our messages, he was exceedingly generous and kind. What a loss. RIP to one of the good guys, we will miss you Mike.

Just caught the news on Facebook, so sorry to hear about Mike. I was always impressed by his kindness and decency and was blessed to have a couple of interactions with him over the years although we never met face to face. Prayers for his family, what a terrible loss.

Here’s Mike at the Chicago show this past year. Another missed opportunity for me, I wasn’t able to go.
