My setup varies a bit, but usually looks something like, from left:

14" hats, 20" crash/ride (with 3 rivets), 12" old funky china, 24" ride, 17 (or 18 with rivets) crash/ride.

From left to right:

14" Sabian Evolution hats, 18" Zildjian K dark thin crash, 15" Zlildjian A. Custom Crash, 20" Zildjian Ping ride.

Occasionally I'll add a 10" K. splash.

The basic 4 piece setup I guess:

AA Sizzle Hats
AAX-Plosion Crash
AA Medium Thin Crash
Paiste Prototype Ride

I have an old and crappy ZBT splash....I might try using it if I can ever get a mount for it.

They work very well together. I spent a lot of time pitch matching them, but they should work well together no matter what. The Zildjian tends to be a little clearer and the Sabian is a little more gongy, but these characteristics are only well heard if you play each cymbal individually and don't make a difference when you are playing full beats. I say go for it. I have a 16" A Custom and a 17" AAX Studio, but I know a lot of people like to go with two inches of diameter difference, just do what sounds right to you.

The Xs20 splash is great for the price. It sounds good and costs less than many other splashes do.

Six, plus hats:

13" A Zildjian Mastersounds or New Beats
16" K Custom Dark Crash
10" Meinl Byzance Splash
14" Meinl Byzance Crash
17" or 18" K Zildjian Dark Crash Thin
22" K Zildjian Dark Medium Ride
18" Sabian HHX O-Zone Crash

I'd like to add a brighter crash cymbal to the mix, maybe a good 15" A Custom if I could find one.
