8, if my memory serves me correctly. 9, if electronic drums count.

I currently have 3 (or 4 including the electronic Yamaha's).

Five:

60’s Ludwig three piece with matching snare in champagne sparkle;

Ludwig Vistalite four piece in black and white swirl with Supraphonic;

Early 2000s Sonor midrange five piece in blond maple;

80’s Sonor three piece Force 3K in masserbirke with matching hidden gem of a snare;

Ludwig Classic Maple Downbeat in olive pearl with matching snare;

Still own the last two and wish I still had the first.

Since I started this thread five months ago my number of total kits owned went from eighteen to nineteen. :D

(And I bought one back that I used to own...)

1. 1960s Delray (MIJ Stencil kit.) blue sparkle 12", 13", 16", 20"

2. 1965 Slingerland Champagne sparkle kit 12", 13", 14", 20"

3. 1957 Gretsch three ply round badge midnight blue pearl kit. 16", 20", and two COB timbales

4. 1975 Slingerland Blakrome kit 12", 13", 16", 18", 22" (Still have.)

5. 2008 DW Collector's Series Broken Glass kit. 8", 10", 12", 13", 14", 16", 22" (Still have. I'm goin to order a 20" bass and a 24" bass to expand this kit into more of a shell bank.)

6. 1981 Gretsch Drop G Walnut kit. 12", 13", 14", 16", 22" (I sold this kit several years ago, recently bought back from a good friend when he needed money. I will sell it to him again when he is able.)

7. 2009 Gretsch Catalina Birch Chestnut Fade kit. 10", 12", 14", 16", 22"

8. 1964 Leedy Sparkling Blue Pearl kit. 12", 13", 16", 20"

9. 1972 Slingerland Sparkling Blue Pearl kit. 13", 16", 18", 24"

10. 1976 Slingerland Blakrome kit. 13", 16", 18", 24"

11. 1960s Rogers Black Diamond Pearl kit. 12", 13", 16", 20"

12. 1966 Slingerland Silver Sparkle kit. 12", 14", 20"

13. 1965 Slingerland White Marine Pearl kit. 13", 16", 20"

14. 2000s Slingerland Conroy Badge Black Diamond Pearl kit. 10", 12", 16", 22"

15. 1970s Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Midnight Blue Pearl kit. 12", 13", 16", 20" (Still have.)

16. 1960s Gretsch Round Badge Champagne Sparkle kit. 12", 14", 20" (Still have.)

17. 1966 Slingerland Champagne Sparkle kit. 13", 16", 20" (Still have.)

18.) 1970s Gretsch Stop Sign Badge Walnut kit. 13", 16", 22" (Still have.)

19.) 2019 Gretsch USA Custom Silver Glass Glitter kit. 10", 12", 14", 16", 22" (I still have it, in fact I just got this in June. I have ordered a 13" tom, 20" bass drum and a 5" deep snare to match. By the end of the year I hope to have ordered an 18" bass drum and maybe a 24" inch bass drum to expand this kit into a shell bank as well.)

I currently own eight of these kits, but I'm in the midst of downsizing. My intent is to own two shell banks which will stay cased up and ready to gig. (The DW Collector's Series and the new Gretsch USA Customs.) I'll keep one other kit set up in my rehearsal room, probably my champagne sparkle 66 Slingerland kit.

I sat down today and counted how many drum sets I've owned over the years, the number is eighteen. Currently I own six, number seven is on the way. That will bring my lifetime total to nineteen. I have not counted kits that I've bought to flip. I know there are guys here who have owned lot more than me.

How about you?

Approximately 25 and currently own about 10. That number will be whittled down to about 6 true keepers. Then I will allow myself ONE resto/ rehab project at a time. Please don't ask about snares and cymbals... Lol

--Premier (red wrap) 13-14-16-22
--Slingerland (gold sparkle 12-14-20)

The above 3 are long gone at this point. Currently own these...

Plus about 10-12 snare drums (Clear Vista/Black Beauty/Black Magic/Mapex Big Cat/Ludwig Rocker/etc...)

Only two, my original 1960's Ludwigs and the Gretsch Cats I bought to mess around with during my golden years after selling off all my gear. But the funny thing is that by the time I sold off my original Ludwigs, not one of the drums were from my original kit (and not all of them were Ludwigs). I don't rightly know how that happened. My drum set just evolved over the years as I added and/or replaced different drums based upon my sense at the time of what I wanted.

I guess I'm not a drum set buyer, although I did notice when shopping around recently and eventually buying the Cats that sets tend to be cheaper than assembling drums individual. I was hankering for a mongrel kit, but couldn't pass up the deal for a used set of Cats.

Maybe if I live long enough I won't have any of the drums from my Cat set either.
