Still trying to shed some Pandemic weight gain. I'm about 10 over my ideal weight of about 185 (6' tall).
My wife and I love long distance backpacking and I'm counting on that in a few weeks (Adirondacks) to kick-start my weight loss. At the gym, its a combination of treadmill at 10-15% incline, basic free weights and stretching.
The biggest hurdle I have had to overcome was the habit instilled in me by my depression-era parents to finish everything on my plate at every meal
I will say that you SHOULD eat everything on your plate. If you're not going to eat it, don't put it on your plate to begin with.
I always finish what I put on my plate.
And, no, I don't need to lose weight.

Guilty...was a lifeguard for years as a teen/adolescent (had it's perks re dating, lol)
Weight trained all my life...still do, as I'm now 'retired' from work as a civil servant (after giving up the life of a musician on the road) I was 60 pounds heavier than I am now in High School when I was on the sports teams, lean but much more broad. I have real weird eating habits, lol, lots of whey, a little lean meat, no carbs...guilty pleasure chocolate and vodka, which works better than viagra...yes, I 'real world' tested it. lol

Here I am from 3 years ago, as an approaching 'senior citizen' View attachment 563917 ...a bit leaner still today. I have about eight pounds to lose before my goal weight, and these have been hard to lose. I eat a lot fewer starches. I eat Kimchi twice per day and my GI complimented my J pouch (“most beautiful one I have ever seen”). I never ate so cleanly in my life. Even when I was a vegetarian duathlete back in the day, I ate JUNK. I was so smug and sanctimonious, too. That Dumpy was yucky.
never give up...keep pushin'...

in 2019 I was infected with some undiagnosed illness. August 14th I started to vomit and did so regularly for five days. I then spent nearly three and a half months in a fetal position with little to no subsistence. I lost 30 pounds, all muscle, from a relatively small frame. My arms, chest, and legs are now all inches smaller. I am trying to gain back muscle, but it is painfully slow at age 73 and since I don't live near the ocean any more, I can't surf regularly, which was my main exercise for 40 years. I do eat a balanced diet, all things in moderation, but i have only one kidney, cirrhosis of the liver, and other chronic issues. Yet I persevere.
movement is important, do what you can, don't push yourself or strain...no need. I don't go at the weight training program like I did when I was younger cause any injuries you get take forever to heal up and recouperate..torn muscles, sprains etc...nah, I leave that to the youngens. lol

Aside from lugging my drums and hardware, I've never worked out a day in my adult life (I've always hated lifting weights and jogging), but I've always been fit; I play and ref ice hockey, spending anywhere from 3-10 hours a week on the ice, most weeks.

These days, same. I'm playing in 4 bands and on 3 hockey teams, so I don't have the time (or need) to do any cardio / weight training outside of that. When I was playing college hockey, I was in the gym 4 days a week, but that was to maintain the lean 200 my coach wanted me at.

We are the athletes of the bands for the most part. Clem Burke was used in a study relating to the athletic part of our avocation (or vocation for some of us). I don’t know if I could play punk anymore, as it is an entirely different set of skills and I get worn out playing “Eat to the Beat” by Blondie.

After four rough years in a row with my health and the opportunity afforded by now working from home, I have the time to work out twice per day on general fitness. I am now playing hockey better than I did at 42 when I started playing in net. My eating has been cleaned up, though I do indulge in alcohol. I am down 75#.

I have wondered if there are drumming-related calisthenics to help with the rigors of drumming. I am starting to do some exercises to help with certain things that happen with goalies and it has helped a thousand-fold! I have had a better GAA (.85 versus .79), so these things do work.

Just curious what some of you do.
And the athletes of precussionists are quad players.
Side note: I bet he got razzed a lot for wearing a Vanguard shirt in that video.

Yep- I used to be that guy LOL
Back in the day I could eat a plate of buffalo wings big enough to choke a horse and down a pitcher of beer without flinching.

Now I really eat very little. My family is used to me not eating dinner generally. Me and the ol'lady go out once a week or so for smash burgers but we split one, cut it in half. After that and one beer I'm totally carb crashed, literally ready to pass out.

I don’t eat much. 3 eggs and some Kimchi for breakfast, three slices of premium lunchmeat and kimchi for lunch, and the evening meal can be spread over 2-3 days LOL
