How to build an interesting solo

At about the 2:30 mark Joe Farnsworth starts building a solo that captured my imagination. Not as much flash as inventive. Color me impressed!

FYI, drum solo starts around 3:20.

Ha, that's really good. I wanted to hop on the train when it pulled into the station at 4:30, just to see where it's going. He's really painting a picture with those brushes.
