How to read Gary Chaffee's 'Study Involving Alternate Rhythmic Placements'

Attached is Gary Chaffee's study in his RHYTHM & METER PATTERNS p34.
Could someone tell me how to count it. I think I know; I just want to be sure.

Nice one! I would count eight notes. I'm rather familiar with quarter note triplets over the bar line in 4/4 (You need to get "three-over two" down for this). Here it seems to be the same thing, just with eight note triplets (plus the quintuplets etc., which are all displaced an eight note). I would count 8/8 time, speedwise starting at 120 beats (eighth notes) per minute. That way you can simultanesouly feel a slow 4/4, then move it up a notch each time.

Just count it in 4. Put on a metronome and take it really slowly. You may also want to check out the Delecluse 12 etudes.
