Out of boredom today I started cataloging my cymbals. I am about 60% complete with the cataloging, and added a page to my drum and drum gear page. Although I thought that Dream cymbals would dominate, Zildjians and Soultones seem to be the bulk of the collection. I really do need to (1) sell off some of these, and (2) get a life.

I recently did the same thing, Mike. Here's what I came up with. Mind you, while all are excellent cymbals, many would likely have not been purchased were it not for the great Amazon blowout several years back. Still, no regrets. They take up almost no room, and I do like the variety.

Hi Hats (7):
  1. A Zildjian 14” New Beats (2 sets)
  2. Soultone 14” Vintage Old School Patina
  3. Soultone 15” Vintage Old School Patina

I am still digging through bags. I estimated 60%, but I think the ones on the page represent about 50%. And, yes, the Soultone (and Smyrna) in my collections are the direct result of Amazon blowouts. I just discovered a large cache of Sabians. I'll never play all of this bronze :)

I was thinking about selling off some cymbals. After seeing this thread my 26 cymbals REALLY aren't that much!
And all I have is:
2 sets of IMPRESSION that I started buying new, then added to them by finding a few used.
1 set of PAISTE Signatures, all bought used; started with a set of cracked ones I repaired and sound wonderful.

Love the collections guys... and can you really have too many cymbals? I suppose you can, but that number would be a moving target for sure!

I had six full sets by brands that I built over the last 10 years and have sold off three leaving me three (sold my Bosphorus, Zildjian and Agop rigs) as I tend to put together sets based on a specific need and when that need is gone I move them on.

I still have too many but at least all these get played very regularly, three very different different brands with sound selections lovingly curated to work as a blended set. See how I make myself feel better about all the cymbals I buy to build out single set! LOL! I would say each of these rigs took buying and selling 20 or more cymbals till I found the right blend for me.

Loved every second of it, I miss cymbal buying! My current rig options...

SABIAN

A) 10” HH Splash, First Generation circa 1989 (273 Grams)
B ) 15” HH Remastered Hi-Hats (1126/ 1432 Grams)
C) 16” HH Sound Control Crash, First Generation circa 1988 (948 Grams)
D) 18” HH Vanguard Crash (1222 grams)
E) 20” HH Vanguard Thin Crash (1570 grams)
F) 20” Crescent Stanton Moor Pang (1675 grams)
G) 22” Crescent Element Ride (2610 grams)
H) 22" HH Complex Crash (1975 grams)

UFIP

A) 10” Class Series Splash, Light (265 Grams)
B ) 16” Extatic Series Hats (1210 over 1400 Grams)

D) 17” Class Series Fast Crash (1100 Grams)
E) 18” Class Series Fast Crash (1210 Grams)
F) 20” Class Series Crash, Light (1750 Grams
G) 20” Class Series China (1410 grams)

i hear you...the problem I have is that I see a cymbal online and think wow, good price etc...then, hang on, let me check....Oh yeah I already have that model.....makes me think I have too many!! I have a cymbal wall though in my man cave...8 cymbal arms for the pretty ones.....could do with more....if anyone wants to check out USA company stringswing...they sell the arms u drill to the wall.

Inventory complete. Gazing at the page I have to wonder what I was thinking. The sad thing is only a few of the cymbals listed are loved and appreciated [by me] ... my children are going to have a daunting task on their hands when they divvy up and settle my estate ... and at 74 that is coming sooner or later. Fortunately I am getting cremated, so there will be no grave upon which to urinate :)

Cool! What's the riveted 22" 50s stamp zildjian like? Does it currently have rivets?

I have 8 "playing" sets to keep me busy. 4 - 10 cymbals per set.

Pre-trans stamp set
Trans stamp set with all having some K-ish qualities
Trans stamp set with predominantly A qualities
50's set of large stamps / small stamps.
60's/70's set of medium thin to medium weights with new beats.
80's set of 1st gen AMIRS
One "set" of old K's

Hmmm....it would take a minute, but at last count I was up to:
87 EAK's
120+/- A's (mostly 3 dots and thin stamps, but a few 50's in the fray) 40 +/- 2oo2 red label
8 UFIP Natural series 2 Cymbal craftsman (with 3 more on the way)
