I’m going to get drawn and quartered but here goes:

Bonham
Mitch Mitchell
Steve Jordan (with John Mayer)
Stanton Moore (with Galactic)

I should say I do like a song or two by Zepplin and Hendrix, but generally speaking I don’t like either band.

Funny, I actually liked Black Oak Arkansas AND Tommy Aldridge.
Speaking of funny, one of BOA's guitar players (Shawn Lane) was an absolute monster, but overall they just reminded me of an act that belonged on Hee Haw.

I love Virgil Donati’s playing and a lot of the stuff he does with his bass players but can’t really stomach the rest of the music.

I can’t picture anyone not British with them, but if you have to go American, Clem would have done pretty well I think.
When Keith Moon died Burke was the only well-known drummer who I thought could step right in without changing the band's sound. British or not, when they chose Kenny Jones I knew the band was officially finished.

I always liked Burke with Blondie but I can’t picture his style or overall feel being loose and busy enough to maintain that Mooney feel. Having said that, no one really jumps to mind on either side of the pond who could have replaced Keith adequately. Something to think about, as tons of other folks have done over the last 40 years or so.

Styx! Love Todd but their music is really corny. "Lady" is a good track though.
