I’ve only seen one guy suggesting the Gretsch , how is that everyone ???
3 guys: JDA, Drummer5359 & Crash. So that's 3 and not just 1. I guess since 3 is more than 1 but less than everyone, either you and I both win or we both lose!

A risk..,
Hear me out.

Black Beauty. 6 1/2 x 14.

Pay with paypal 6 month no interest ( or the like).

Change batter head immediately.

Resell (if you can part with it) In a couple of months.

You might loose A little. Or you might find a drum you can not part with. Either way you get to play (possibly) the best snare drum for a while.

Ok thats a bad idea... Carry on, ya all.

(8 lugs are available now, too)

That's an awesome idea. I like it. I would need to figure out financing for something like that. Hmmm.

Hmmm, many for sale do I have right here on this forum - ones' under $500 are Pork Pie brass 8x14, DW Maple 6x14, Sakae NOB 4x14 - all mint or better...search for sale section or ask me.

best wishes on your search.

I was thinking considerably less than $500...

More like $50-$150

So now you have a chance to change things up, I say go with a piccolo. Why go for just any old 5x14 snare again? Boring! Go with a piccolo for a different sound, something alittle more unique. You might actually like it.
Not exactly a piccolo, but, maybe the coolest drum on the planet:
