Had our first jam session. Guitarist and I locked up like we'd been playing a lifetime together. It's so refreshing to play with other musicians who understand time is their responsibility too. It just felt perfect. He's a great singer as well. Joining us was a bassist and a female vocalist. We called different covers from Fleetwood Mac to Donna Summers to The Eurythmics, to you name it, and we were pretty happy with how things were shaping up. We're all in for another session on Sunday, this time we're going to have a list of songs to learn at home, and see how it goes when we all do our homework. I think this could be a really versatile, bookable band.

Sounds good, It is nice when things click right out of the gate....and not too common.
Sounds like it can only get better.

Sunday's test set:

Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morissette
Head Over Feet - Alanis Morissette
When Will I Be Loved - Linda Ronstadt
You're No Good - Linda Ronstadt
I Thank You - ZZ Top
Secret Agent Man - Johnny Rivers
Beginnings - Chicago

And possibly some originals, but doubtful we'll get to it.

A little something to see what everyone is made of!

Wait! You’ve got the horn section to play Beginnings? I wanna see that!

My mom loved Linda Ronstadt, so so do I.

She was a fan of Billy Joel too.

Morissette was after her but I'm a fan of that genre also.

So much good stuff in that mix, good on you guys!

Nah, but I figure if we don't have a horn section, then I don't have to pull off all of Danny Seraphine's licks either. :). The signature licks in the beginning are easy and probably necessary, but I ain't got time for the whole song!

I figured! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a rock band with a horn section. Nothing like it really!

I've always wanted to play in a funk/soul band with a full horn section. We'd cover Parliament, Sly, James Brown, old Cameo, old Kool and the Gang, etc. Especially Parliament!!
