I did some research as I am buying some 18 inch maple to cut down to fit a 17" and Thought I would pass on the info I gathered incase someone else is looking to buy and wants to save some time.
Though they all carry most the sized, here are the websites and prices I found for 18" maple hoops. All in the 1.5 inch depth and 8mm thickness (some 12ply, some 6 but of thicker ply)
Some of these prices are for finished with laquer some more raw. Anyway here is what I found as of this week. 4/30/2020

https://www.drumgearonline.com/bdhoops2.html $35.95 maple rounded
https://drumsonsale.com/parts/bass-drum-hoops/worldmax-unfinished-maple-bass-drum-hoops.html $28.50 maple rounded sanded
https://precisiondrum.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/hoops-jan2019-440x1024.jpg $35 45 with groove maple rounded sanded
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibraltar/Wood-Bass-Drum-Hoop.gc 49.69 clear or Black Lacquer
https://www.treehousedrums.com/store/p173/Wooden_Bass_Drum_Hoop.html#/ $55 rounded and sanded
https://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_7_67&products_id=8425 $28.46 sanded and rounded
or they have finished clear or black laquer for $46.54
ended up going with furandhide.com $26 raw not rounded. They bought out Anderson Internationals stock of hoops and selling them till they are gone.

Thanks for posting! Inspired me to grab a pair of the Worldmax for $28 ea. Been looking for a pair for awhile but hadn’t found any this cheap. I’m looking for a matte natural finish, so these are perfect - unfinished and rounded on one side. I’ll oil them, rub them with beeswax and call it a day. Appreciate the help.

So I got the dfd hoops, Very nice and I cut a channel very easily. Then I went with channels and joints as dowels are near impossible to drill straight without buying a dowel jig and hard to find jig in that small size of a dowel. Plus drilling straight on a rounded surface and then having joints meet perfectly square is also difficult. So joint approach gives much more strength with more surface glued and then the joint can be sanded down to match rounded circumference

This is just before gluing, I ended up putting a few wraps of duct tape around the outside of my inner form to enlarge its circumference as I had made it a few mm smaller than the hoop.
