In praise of the 26" bass drum

I don't get to use it often, but a few years ago my school had a faculty recital, a program including Louis Armstrong's "West End Blues." My old Leedys were the closest thing I had to period-correct (albeit about 15 years too late), so I brought them along, including the 26" bass drum.

The smile on the bass player's face when I played my first note on that thing was enough to justify the trouble of bringing it. :)
