Info wanted: 1961 Slingerland 8-lug wmp snare

Yesterday, I drove 3 hours round-trip (including some backcountry roads in blizzard conditions) to pick up this Slingerland snare. Seller was the original owner, and got it in 1961 when he was in middle school band. All original, including case, heads (calf on top), wires, stand, and a nifty Camco key. Needs a thorough cleaning, after which I think it will gleam. Looks to be 3-ply mahogany. Can anyone tell me the model name and general value? I dropped 2 bills for it.

Hollywood Ace or Student Model. Definitely 3-ply but the "M" stamp on the interior designates an outer ply of maple. "M" stamp shells are usually not wrapped. Nice find.

Yeah, using the 1960 guide, the student model has clips and the Hollywood Ace has stick savers. Otherwise identical...

That's a Nice snare comparable to a 60s 4103 Gretsch Renown 8L. Perfect snare all ya need,.
Just need a drum set to put up to it.
What's it going to be.

It was sticking. The last 10 miles or so was the worst kind, where you have about .5" on top of an already icy dirt road with lots of hills.

The Hollywood ace had a tone control, the Student model did not.
Both were 8 lug, and the Student could be ordered from the factory wit stick saver hoops.
