I'm looking to sell a cymbal and want as much info on it as possible.

I think its from 1970 and was bought as part of a package with a Rogers kit.

The crash cymbal is 18" with the following engraved:

2 lines of 'turkish'? characters
under this:
Avedis
Zildjian Co
Genuine
Turkish cymbal
Made in USA

Its very heavy at 1800grams and has quite a gongy sound

My question: is this an A and is there any more info about this cymbal anyone can provide?
Thanks
Scott

Yup. It's an A. As in Avedis. If you can post a few pics including a closeup of the logo, we can tell you for sure how old it is.

Hi Poot,
Thanks for the info.
I've taken a photo of the writing but the cymbal is very worn, and doesn't show much in the top photo.
Any extra info would be great.

Certainly looks circa 1970, as you had said. Hard to get a read on that logo pic, but the lightly stamped logo, lathing pattern, and general appearance of the cymbal are consistent with that era. It's probably worth $75 - 100.00.

If the stamp is about 1" wide and 1.5" high, it's probably early 70's manufacture. An 18" Crash might go for a bit less than what poot said; I've seen numerous 20" Rides from the same era go for anywhere from $40 to $120 or so. I'd probably start bidding at $50 and see where it goes.
