I've been here since the DCI days, a long time and many posts. Have met a number of members in person. The NY/NJ guys met in NYC a couple of times, a group of 10 or so, and also met many others at various drumshows and gigs. All nice guys in person and you wonder how conflicts can arise, but typed words on a screen leave the interpretation to the reader. Done a lot of great deals here as buyer and seller, and spend more time over in Vintage than in General, but love all of it. I'm always impressed by the level of knowledge and interesting non-music careers described by various members over the years.

I'm not on here as much as i used to be. Since I retired a couple years ago I don't sit at my desk as much, and I don't use the phone for that kind of stuff.

We assume this place will be here forever, and I hope it will, but you never know.

I must say, the place seemed more fun and lively years ago when the whack-jobs and ego-heads were here in force. That's progress, I guess.....

Thanks for checking-in, DanC.
You're among the handful of original members still active that I mentioned earlier in this thread, and you've always been a valuable asset to this community. A good guy with consistently good info!

I started from the old newsgroup forum around 1999 and then transitioned to this DF. After not being on the DF for a number of years, my old Moniker wouldn't work and I couldn't remember my password, but I couldn't get the admins attention to reset it, so I started fresh with a new one in 2015, I believe. But, I remember the old Rob Schuh days and there were a lot of "characters" around and it was fun to read.

I joined DFO almost exactly 10 years ago and have enjoyed posting and reading threads over the years. However, I will admit that I don't come around nearly as often as I used to.

I have made many friends here, sold drums, bought drums and learned more than I could have ever imagined. However, a general malaise kind of crept in a few years ago - probably spawned by a lot of ugliness coming from a few hot head members. I almost quit using this site altogether a few times based on smart ass responses to posts. If I wanted that kind of abuse I could just talk to my wife (just kidding).

I will have to say that the commercialization of DFO did not help to increase my usage. I have gone from multiple visits a day to once a day to a couple of times a week to (maybe) once a week. There's still a lot of great people here and a collective knowledge that probably doesn't exists anywhere else.

I still scan the General section nearly every day but don't post much anymore. Hardly ever gig nowadays and don't collect anymore at all. I had a different user name at DCI and just realized i can't for the life of me even remember what it was. But I guess that's not too surprising as i didn't post much there either.

As DCI was shutting down both Chris (DFO) and JR Frondelli started new forums. I don't recall the name of JR's, but for what ever reason it never quite caught on and was pretty short lived.

But this sure has been a fun thread though, Thank you ES! Remembering some of the characters that used to be here and some of the "interesting" discussions! LOL!

The combination of E-bay and Youtube with this forum made this a powerhouse. I pissed off a few members by posting good deals on Ebay here on Rogers drums. I didn't know any better. Still a drum community this big was never imaginable. It turns out that the only thing that drummers have in common are drums. Laugh! I do have a "not worthy" streak sometimes because I have never got into micing drums and recording. I am slowing going that direction so I won't be in the dark. On another note, I am the only member that has been right about everything..............slither. Ace

Damn....Dr. Dirt. I remember that dude
As far as roofer Steve B.....I always loved his post. He seemed like a cool dude. I've always promoted DFO to my friends as like the "University" of drum knowledge. No other place used to compare.

I’ve been around since Harry had his forum. Probably joined around 2000-2001 or so. I check this place out once a day for new info. Always great folks around, but I strive to avoid any drama.

At some point, all you feel that needs to be said about drums is said.

While I am a long-time member, my engagement level definitely ebbs and flows. Sometimes life just gets in the way. I still think DFO is a wonderful resource and I always come here first when I have questions or want to show something off. I have certainly read a LOT more posts than I have written.

I've never had a political discussion here, nor would I care to.

Yeah, everything ebbs and flows I guess. Been hanging around here for damn near 10 years now and I still find it a great place to log into and ogle drum porn, daydream about all the awesome pieces I'd buy if I only had the funds, etc. But hell, in that 10 years I've gone from a relatively young 30 year old vintage drum junkie to a 40 year old married father of two that can barely find the time to take a shower anymore, never mind retreat to basement to play/collect/restore drums! lol

I do still marvel at the knowledge I've gained poking around this place for the better part of a decade though... there are some great people around here. By the way, always wondered, whatever happened to Chas? Always liked that guys restoration threads...

I've been busy with work, so less time here, but I will add that I'm not a fan of the new layout.

I come here to learn about drums/companies/hardware that I am not familiar with or have questions on.
I will not post on FB. It's an idiot fest.
Thanks to all the folks who have helped me out/answered a question I had.
So I'm here pretty much every day at some point. And will continue to do so.

Butch up.
Schuh was quite a character.
