Boy! A lot of Gretsch talk and new Gretsch snare threads here at DFO over the past couple days so I'll add my latest along with the rest.
I just got this Gold Series "Weathered Gray Barn Board" Maple Stave, it landed earlier today and it's actually my second G stave, the other one is Cherrywood.

These are fine heavyweight snares with thick body & vast tonal range.

Enjoy those new Gretsch goodies mates!

Raining Gretsch, indeed! And those two snares, especially the cherry, illustrates why. Gretsch is back with a big bang since Kaman, and now DW, entered the picture. It's great seeing the brand's resurgence!

Admittedly the 3 finishes offered in this now discontinued "barn board" series weren't exactly eye-catching, not like the bling of Gretsch's spectacular 'Inca Gold sparkle' for instance, but I'm liking the somewhat understated & unique look of it. The responsiveness and tonality of these block staves is truly rewarding. I plan to enjoy this one and the Cherry model for the remainder of my playing years.
