For me it's gotta be fieldy from Korn. He makes the bass sound like a hip hop drumkit
It used to be Matt Freeman from rancid with his crazy up and down scales in "Detroit" or "another night ."
Fieldy plays a 5 string ibenez, the slap and plucking is crazy. He uses it as a percussive instrument. He is responsible for that heavy Korn sound. Low, down tuned strings, not much mid or treble. At first I thought Korn just had a wicked drummer with all that clicking going on but nope it was fieldy punishing the bass . Most rock bands you can barely hear the bass player.
Matt Freeman on the other hand, prince on the strings of his guitar. He uses either pentatonic or diatonic scales, whichever one it is idk. His solo on Maxwell murder is awesome! Off of the and out come the wolves cd.
Who do you guys think are the best bass players in the world?
