He must be using a hard beater like wood or plastic, that's the BD sound I prefer too, I've never used felt beaters on gigs anymore in the last 40 years

One of the best ever. Also a guy I personally admire as a human being, just a special person. Wooo, that bass drum sound is epic too.

Aside: that’s the first time since the 80’s that I’ve thought “gotta adjust the horizontal hold”! Thanks for the flashback!
