Late 50's Slingerland Snare Drum hoops Question

Hello,

My late 50 Slingy snare...one ply maple, clamshell strainer has nickel hardware on it.

Would the hoops on it usually be NOB or NOS?

Back then it would be Nickel over Brass

By NOS I meant nickel over steel...if that's even possible??? I'm not into chemistry and elements and stuff.

Late 50s will be either nickel over brass or chrome over brass.

A magnet can verify that they hadn't been switched out at some point. If it sticks they are steel, if not they are brass. Brass would be the right material for that time frame in whichever plating (nickel or chrome) matches the rest of the hardware.

The rest of the cast parts would be a zinc alloy.

I would think nickel over steel..i was just thinking if mine was coated or should i say 'plated'.

Late 50s will be either nickel over brass or chrome over brass.

drumtimejohn and K.O. are correct. Brass hoops with either nickel or chrome plating.

My snare from that era is red glass glitter and nickel Hardware but unfortunately did not come with hoops. I put wooden Hoops on it.

Hoops will be brass, but lugs would be pot metal. Strainer parts would mostly be steel.
