Just picked this one up at Sweetwater—-Ludwig Universal nickel over brass 6.5x14. Nice drum, was able to get some money knocked off for Gearfest. I thought initially that a Remo Coated CS was “the” head, but the stock head, the el cheapo Taiwanese Ludwig head actually sounds better. It was dissed on at least one YouTube review, but it reminds me very much of Ludwig Weathermasters. If I don’t sell my Gretsch Renown, I might try that CS on it.

This is my current brass line up: A&F Brass Limited Edition 4" X 14"; Gretsch Keith Carlock Signature Brass 2mm shell 5.5" X 14"; Joyful Noise TKO 6.5" X 14"; Ludwig Black Beauty 5" X 14"; Ludwig Black Beauty 8" X 14".
The only mods I've made are to the two Black Beauties: I added Joyful Noise 2.5 mm nickel over brass hoops and Canopus snare wires.

Halfway between the Quads and the Windy City...
Pearl Free Float 6.5 x 14 that I joke was given to me by Greg Bissonette. I actually won it at one of his clinics years ago...

Also have this Slingerland, but I have never checked if it's brass...

I have 4 bronze snares but I wouldn't consider them exactly brass... I dunno, do they count?

My brass snares .....

Pearl free floating brass snare drum 6.5x14" im guessing made in the 90's, I also was just given the picallo version of this , the middle hoop had cracked but I got a new replacement from sweetwater. I will add pics when I finish fixing it.

Premier brass symphonic "carmine appice" model . (It's the same drum as the symphonic with a signature badge added) both sound great.

My non-Ludwig contribution:

1990ish Pearl 3x13: great side snare tuned up high. Doubles well for timbale hits.

Mid 1970s Slingerland 5x14: at this point, it was probably called the Sound King, successor to the Gene Krupa model. I have the original warranty card and batter head for this instrument. This thing will poke a hole right through the middle of any band.

1985 Slingerland 2 to 1: an oddball that sounds really great when you learn how to cope with the design. Great with brushes - heavy!
