I know there's a run on these kinds of threads and I peruse them sometimes. Always pics of gear that's way out of my pay grade.

Let's see your junk drums - beater snares and kits that look like crap but you dig them and play them regularly.

Acrolites and Festivals seem to be accepted in polite society now, so that just leaves my lowly Swingstar as a friend from low places. Great drum. I miss my old Ludwig rockers beater kit too, but space got tight for awhile

I have a $5 original Pearl Export that I took the covering off of. Painted it inside and out with paint for our swingset. Some polyurethane inside and out too. A little Sanding, but never got the wmp wrap to cover it.

Using it for rehearsals/practice the last year. It sounds great!

Here is my latest... $70 for the bass and two toms!

10-13-16 (16x12 bass!) LUDWIG ACCENT (Made in China, of course). I put on some good heads and did lotsa work on the kick, made a home-made lift and they sound PRETTY DARN GOOD (PDG). I would not hesitate to take these out on a jazz gig.

Really decent shells with nice edges. I really dig this set cuz it fits easily into a corner of my small living room.

Not bad for cheap Chinese junk.

Copy of a premier snare (14x6.5) made in Portugal. Bought if for 5€ without much tought in a crappy state and restored it. Originally had calf skin heads (that sounded soooo goood!) I since ordered a set of custom made (a litlle under 14") calf skin heads and its a blast to play this thing.

My first drum. A copy of the Tama Imperialstar made by ASAMA. Awful hardware but the shells sound pretty good with the zola coat interiors. They have taken a lot of beating but I still enjoy playing these whnever I can. Currently at my nephew house for him to learn the basics of drumming and mostly enjoy himself as I did!

I have a room with quite a bit of low end stuff. CB700s, some MIJ stuff, old Slingerland shells that need some restoring. There are some nicer drums that were in there at the time of the photo, but for the most part, its all low end stuff.

All my drums know they might be called into dive bar service at any moment. Only a few are close to cosmetically perfect.
I love them all, so I try to minimize the arc and velocity when they get tossed in the truck.

yeah, kinda like me having PERFECT PITCH with bassoon or banjo... I can toss either one right into the middle of the dumpster and not hit either side... PERFECT PITCH!

I feel the same way about the gravelly croaking of many current female singers.
