Played my new Star last night and thought it looked lovely with the walnut finished INDE's. Oh, and it sounded wonderful as well.... very dry and controlled with a breathy ring at the same time if thats possible!!

Cool. Interesting how far the reinforcement rings are from the bearing edges.Just scored this 12" x 6" Noble and Cooley Star single ply maple snare from 1988. Haven't played it yet, but it sure looks nice.

We made the shells DW used for Tony William's snare. 12 red powder coated lugs on each side! Johnny called his kit "The Ronald McDonald Kit"(LOL)! DW asked us to send one more shell for Tony, he passed away soon after sending the shell. A few weeks later we received the finished drum, and Johnny placed it up on the racks with numerous other old shells, rims etc... Steve Maxwell ended up with the drum a few years later. Its even on tape:
It was quite the suprise.
He had one (or two) regular 10 lug 14x4 Craviotto snare too for this kit.We made the shells DW used for Tony William's snare. 12 red powder coated lugs on each side! Those shells were the standard 6.5x14 shells we made for DW at the time. That picture DOES make the shell look thicker though! He had one (or two) regular 10 lug 14x4 Craviotto snare too for this kit.
The shell seems to be a tad thicker than regular Crav shells from that era.

More proof of my theory that switching to DW after decades with Gretsch is what actually killed Tony.We made the shells DW used for Tony William's snare. 12 red powder coated lugs on each side! Kidding, sort of. I think it was a broken heart, not the gall bladder surgery.

Ha ok, is it the DCP one? Is it Mahogany?Which Tama Star is it? I can't recognize it, maybe the light is different in the photo?
That was my first Snare, well, not really, the kit I bought came with a Tama COS plus wrap, so, a basic steel drum that was quite tamed with the same wrap it the drums kit. That was ok at the beginning but I wanted a great snare and I love this one, this is my main snare. And a lot of people in this forum told me I did a great choice so, I understand why you love it.Tama Star Reserve solid maple 5”x14”. Loving this snare.
It was my Star single ply mahogany. I actually picked it up after getting my plied mahogany version because the price was right, but I kept it because is sounds so sweet and nothing like it's brothers!Which Tama Star is it? I can't recognize it, maybe the light is different in the photo?
