Here’s the back of my walnut Gibson L-00. Very light and straight grained. Walnut can look a lot of different ways.Is some walnut as light as the outer plies are on this one? It definitely has a somewhat dark tone walnut is known for.
Gorgeous guitar! I think these snares are gonna be a hit if all are like the walnut. Here’s the back of my walnut Gibson L-00. Very light and straight grained. Walnut can look a lot of different ways.

Beautiful snare! Any sense on the lugs actually being more heavy duty? And with the cast hoops. Definitely Classic Maple Exotic vibes. I'll get a good workout of it tomorrow at practice! View attachment 556673
They seem heavy duty to meBeautiful snare! Any sense on the lugs actually being more heavy duty?
Thanks! Any sense on the strainer/butt spacing? They seem heavy duty to me
It seems to me that the more heavy duty lugs were reserved for the metal snares in this line. The ones on the wood shells seem to be the same tube lugs used by Ludwig on their other lines, but I could be wrong. I do wish they were more well-proportioned to the depth of the shell, as they are on the metal series. The high badge/vent hole placement is also a little weird, but obviously its the sound that's most important.Beautiful snare! Any sense on the lugs actually being more heavy duty?
I too was thinking the heavier lugs were on the BNOB only. Looks like the BNOB still come with the 20 strand “German” wires. It seems to me that the more heavy duty lugs were reserved for the metal snares in this line. They did some with laser engraving.Did they make a version of the Black Magic that came with the gold designs?

Used the walnut at church today. Our church doesn't have the best acoustics. First song it seemed lower than I like most of my snares.
Took the key between song breaks and tuned it up some. Next song, it's absolutely perfect. Really loving this one. I almost wouldn't mind trying the cherry either, but I do not need any more snares.
