How do the contemporary Classic Maples compare to the late 70s-80s six ply drums? Which is thicker/heavier/louder? Have the bearing edges changed, and if so, how?
Both have the inside 45, but the CM has a flattened peak and a slight chamfer on the outside of the edge.
The Classic uses the more traditional rounded peak.
The Classic Maple has none of the mellowness or fatness to its sound. However, its a very colourful sound and features a crisp attack.
I think the resonance of the drum is more present in the overall sound of the Classic Maple, compared to the Classic, too.
