The background:

So I am in need of the experts here to help figure out what the hardware is that I am needing.

IU basically need to re-hardware the Bass Drum (spurs, Tom arm Mount, Tom Arm(s)) and I'm in need of the tom brackets.

All the pictures I've found from online catalogues have shown off the complete kit. No closeups of the hardware I'm looking for.

Any and all advice is welcome.

Help me finish this special project.

looks like an early 1970's 3ply kit. Here are what the tom mounts look like. You can find them on eBay fairly easily. The nuts/wing nuts changed over the years, but this is what I believe you are looking for. The spurs look close enough to correct, I'd just leave them if the drum has been modified to accept them.

THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!!

All the badges are gone, so no numbers to use to look up the actual age.
From all the looking I've been doing this weekend I was thinking this had the characteristics of a kit from the early 70s. Possibly pre '73 from what I've read.
Glad to see my opinion on that backed up.

This must have been the THIRD tom mount that they put on the bass drum. All those holes :crybaby:

You know what I'm thinking...

Revamp the entire set with Yama (or Tama..
hardware

Is that too radical a thought, or do you think you got a shot getting this Kit "up on it's feet" again

You may have bought the proverbial pig-in-a-poke'...
But it's hard to see 'the entire' set so far as most of the pics are 'close ups'.. I forget exactly what all you have

Sorry, can't ruin the mojo of the kit with non-Ludwig hardware. I've already got a line on the missing/broke pieces needed to get it back up and running. Functionally yes it can be restored. Cosmetically (very faded silver sparkle) might be a different question.

There is a far away pic in the original thread I linked in the first post. I can't show them set up because the tom bracket/arms are missing. 9x13 and 10x14" mounted toms, 16x16" Floor tom, (16x18 is missing:crybaby:) and 14x24" Bass Drum.

Maybe cause there's no badge I can't place where the brackets are or aren't; Sound like you got a handle on it ( no pun..

Question

With all those drilled holes in the BD, would it devalue the kit if I re-wrapped it in new Silver Sparkle wrap? I'd have to re-wrap the toms to match as well. I'm afraid taking the original wrap off would kill the value of the drums even with the little problem areas.

Re- titled the thread to document the restoration progress.

I think I have all the parts coming that I need. I'll find out for sure as I progress along.

Full Photo documentation of the 13 x 9 tom before (with the exception of the polishing)

Not sure what I can do about the seam.

The bearing edges are going to need some work. Several big "dents" in the edge. I'm afraid I'm going to have to sand them flush and re-cut the edges.

Insides could use a light sanding. Fortunately I believe all the tom bracket holes will be hidden with the correct hardware on the outside.

Full Photo documentation of the 14 x 10 tom. Before photos. No work done yet. Hardware removal is all that was done.

Not sure what I can do with this seam.

I'm surprised by all the rering glue globs. Also needs some cleaning and sanding.

The bearing edges are a lot better than the 13 tom. Still needs a light sanding to smooth them over.

Another hack job on the replaced off brand tom mount. I really hope the correct hardware covers it up. May have to use a slightly larger washer inside to hold.

16 x 16 Floor tom.

For the most part it's in good shape.
Same seam problem as the other toms.

One finish issue at a leg bracket.

UUGGHHHH!!!!
Ran my fingers over the bearing edges with my fingers. Instead of a nice rolled over edge, they are FLAT. I mean Table top F.L.A.T. May have to actually recut these. Fortunately I think I will only have to take off 1/16 of an inch to fix it.

BASS DRUM

Bearing edges need a little touch up (I'm not surprised at this point).
Some adhesive sticky stuff on the inside from some kind of muffins.
Lots of extra holes around the tom mount. Looks like there has been three different mounts drilled/mounted on it.
Last pic shows where the reinforcement ring is coming unglued. Easy, but time consuming fix.
