My cousin past away about 10 years ago and he left behind a nice little Ludwig kit with a non matching Walberg and Auge 14x14 ice blue glitter floor tom. He purchaced them in Hollywood and not sure if from a set director or maybe Hollywood Drum shop. the story goes they were used on the set of The Love Boat back in the 70's. After he suddenly past away His mom gave the kit to his sister who then gave it to her son. The kit sits on a shelf in their garage and will never be sold or parted out due to the sentimental value. I know I could trade her for a matching silver sparkle floor tom for the walberg and Auge floor tom...just wondering how rare is the drum? i would love to piece together a bass and tom someday! The pic is the kit with the floor tom nested inside the bass drum. The pic of the floor tom is off the Internet but identical in color and shape. Maybe someone here knows about this kit...maybe? Thanks

If you could get a hold of that floor tom, I know who has a five piece set of Walberg & Auge that in that color which I owned until recently. If i still owned that set, I would want the 14x14 to go with it. The current owner may also want it. I don't know about calling it rare. But, that color is very uncommon, and that size tom is even less common.

I think The Love Boat drums were a black 5pc Pearl set....or at least when Deacon Dark (Sonny Bono) played.

Still a very cool kit and I love the FT.

Been a while since I’ve been here...

Well this past Xmas was great because I was gifted the Ludwig/W&A kit posted above.

I spent a few days polishing them up and I’m so very happy I have this set in my studio/music room.
pics are before I cleaned them up

since 2012 a guy has brought back the W/A name and there is a facebook page or two now. You could see how rare it is...of the W/A orphan kits I have...none have a 14 ft. As I recall Dave Drew Music (his son visits this page) had had a 24/13/14 W/A but with Rocket Lugs.

The floor arrived yesterday 2/14/20 and it will need some lovin ;) A bunch of tape or glue residue inside and out. Seam separation and a stripped out lug mounting screw that was frozen that I just snapped off to get the lug off the drum. I’ll either try to easy out it or buy a single lug and not mess with it. Spent 30 min taking it apart and wiping the odd spot to get an idea what needs to be done. Fun stuff! Most of the glue residue will be knocked down using a razor blade and I stop just before hitting the wrap...glad it was all on the outside of the wrap and not inside it. Very dirty, has not been cleaned in years. Golden brown hue on everything makes me think cigarette smoke.

The floor Tom found it’s forever home ;) these will never be sold just handed down over time. My cousin would be proud to see his kit finally back together.
The reso head is an old head from back in the early 90’s just on there to hold the hoop on. The new reso head is on it’s way, be here tomorrow and then the small Ludwig logo sticker will look right at home. But for now I’m stoked!

Received the Gibraltar flat based hardware pack and new heads. I’m very happy with the way it has come together. Not using the Walberg & Auge Tom due to the leg mounts buzzing, will get those fixed or replaced in the future. The kick is sounding huge as well as the floor Tom. Never did I think I’d end up with these! Last pic is of my cousin on the right me on the left...

Anyone have their factory tom mount choke the tom down? Took the drum off the consolete and holding it with my hand, it resonants a lot more. Put it on a snare stand and it resonants like it should.

Yeah I always keep my tom on a snare stand. Never had luck mounting any of my vintage stuff on the bass drum.

You did a fantastic job cleaning these up! Great to get them off that shelf in the garage and getting played like they deserve. Great tribute to your cousin.
