I used to use my New Yorker at church about a year ago during the pandemic when we had church outside every Sunday. Mic'd (or unmic'd) they sound great! The church has a house kit (a lower line dw kit) and I much preferred my 60's kits over it, so I brought my own drums whenever I was scheduled to play.
Incredible feedback! I too will be using mine in Church. The kit I am purchasing is similar to yours in that mine is about a 1965 or 1966 (I believe). I am sure that I will love them (as you do)

Thanks, Patrick! I cannot wait to get mine!
When I saw my kit for sale, I almost didn't buy it because of the 12x22! I did a little research and 'YouTubing' and my mind changed very quickly. Glad I got them because they aren't all that common and they sound so nice. You will enjoy them, just please post pics for us to see!

I hope everyone can see these two quick shots. This is the kit that I was discussing that I decided to go ahead and purchase! Let me know your thoughts.

Lol! I’m not that yet! I do have a sizzle cymbal but I don’t know if I need that just yet.

Emperor coated or clear?
Split the difference, smooth white Emps. My favorite "Rock" heads.

I had a transition badge Super Ludwig to go with mine but in the past year or so also scored a TB Red Sparkle Super Classic snare to go with mine too. A red sparkle Jazz Fest or Super Classic or Downbeat (I have all three) would work nicely with those.

Late to this conversation. My "New Yorker" is a little different. I used a 12x20 marching bass drum [WFL I think] and matched it with an 8x12 and 14x14. Rewrapped in Oyster Blue Pearl. I LOVE my 12x20 and won't get rid of it. GREAT sound and cool size. Now I want to find a 12x22 bass drum.
