Hi,

I'm looking for a pointy blue and olive badge (like on the photo below) to restore a tom.
With a serial number in the 11xxxxx range would even better (1976).

PM if you have something for me.

Thanks

Hi everybody

I came across a Ludwig Double Bass Set with the Blue/Olive Badge on it. I know this means it is from the 70s, but does it also have any other significance? The only types of sets Ive seen with these are either 3-ply Maple, 6-Ply Maple, or Vistalite. Are these the only material these sets come in?

Thanks For your help

Josh,

Blue/Olive implies top shelf LW from 1969 to about 1983/84. Could be on any drum, but means it will have the best hardware and plys that LW had. Pointy corners from 69 to about 79, rounded corners after that. LW went back to a slightly larger (than 60s) keystone badge for top-shelf drums mid eighties, prior to the move to NC.

The lower-cost Standards had their own badge in the late 60s/early 70s, and the black/white-badged drums later in the 70s also signified that LW was saving on costs, either through less/cheaper h/w, or lower quality ply.

Hope this helps.
