Well, I'll show a bunch of snares I've had. Vintage and modern. Right now in Ludwig I have two 5x14 Acrolites and a 5x14 B-O COB Supra, but I don't have any pictures of them currently. I'll see if I can take some. Here's other drums from the past...

My favorite 5x14 Ludaloy Supra ever. Bought for $80 at a tiny music store in a tiny town, cleaned it up. Now owned by a friend who doesn't want to sell it back.

6.5x14 Black Galaxy Acrolite

'69 5x14 Acrolite

early 70s 5x14 Acrolite

'66 or '67 5x14 Supra

2009 100th Anniversary badge 5x14 COB Supra - man was that a great drum. I only sold it because I now have a 1970 COB Supra in the same size. Wish I could have kept both though.

2009 100th Anniversary engraved 6.5x14 Black Magic (brass) - this was a KILLER drum. Again, only sold it because of the other brass drum I still have when I was forced to purge. Owned by a forum member now, hopefully he'll sell it back to me one day!

2009 100th Anniversary engraved 5.5x14 Black Magic (brass) - great drum, but the 6.5 beat it for tone. I am pretty sure it sold here on DFO.

2009 100th Anniversary "Jazz Festival reissue" offered by Guitar Center. Classic Maple shell with 10 lugs, modern pink oyster. Sold it to DanRH and who knows where it ended up.

mid-2000s 6.5x14 Classic Maple with Santos Rosewood veneer. Another great sounding drum I sold here on DFO.

A modern 5x14 bronze Supra that I somehow got without a badge, can't remember where I came across it, and another 6.5x14 Blacro.

5x14 Blacro.

60s pitted 6.5x14 Supra. Surprisingly this one was not a winner in the tone department.

modern 6.5x14 Supra.

Got one of these when it first came out, don't remember why I let it go. Hammered lacquered brass with tube lugs.

'79 6.5x14 Supra - TONE MONSTER. Let it go because it was worth a chunk of change and I needed to buy another drum! Ha!

Refinished 60s 5x14 Pioneer.

1970 5x14 Jazz Festival with low-rider badge. The shell was drilled center for a keystone badge, but got a B-O instead. This was the second one of these strange-badged drums I'd had, with the first one being green sparkle many years ago.

2009 100th Anniversary badged 6.5x14 Legacy Classic in gold glass.

late '50s 8x15 WFL 3-ply. Sold to someone in Europe.

60s 5x14 Pioneed in blue-silver duco.

late-2000s 5x14 prototype Pearwood snare, bought from Jim Catalano at the PA Drum Show.

modern B-stock 6.5x14 bronze Supra. Had to hammer out 2 dents in the shell where the strainer attached, but otherwise a perfect and fantastic sounding drum.

modern 6.5x14 Classic Maple.

early 60s (red felt muffler) 5x14 Jazz Festival in BDP.

early 70s Ludwig Standard (Jazz Festival) in bronze strata.

All-aluminum Acrolite prototype, sold to our very own mlayton - I believe he still has it (completed).

late 60s (can't recall what year) 5x14 Jazz Festival in burgundy sparkle. Sold to Bun Carlos, and still in his collection as far as I know!

Thanks and very nice pix folks, y'all have some excellent equipment.

I am seeing a LOT of regret for those who have sold some sweet snares, which is why I don't sell. Please keep the pix coming, I am seeing some snares I didn't know existed, like the Orange Mod piccolo, and the all aluminum Acrolite proto (that I noticed Mike hasn't put up for sale yet?).

I want Pontiac Rich's entire rack! :laughing6:

Here is my oldest rarest Ludwig snare. it is a Downbeat from early 1963 through early 1964. I have several other as well, but nothing really worth posting . . . an excellent Supra (that actually goes withe the champagne kit) , one that needs powder-coated (or something) and an Acrolite (maybe two) . . . they are all Keystones . . . I don't have any O/B badges. NAD

. . . oops, I lied . . . I do have a O/B badge snare . . . . I just got this back from my buddy . . . he polished out all the scratches and abuse from the last 40 some years. This drum looks like brand new . . . I only touch it with cotton gloved hands.

Let me add . . . . if you have a Vistalite shell that needs "rubbed" out and don't feel like spending all the time it takes, please contact me and I'll put you in touch with him . . . it ain't cheap, but he hand rubs each shell.

This snare is from 1973/1974 . . . now I just need the rest of the kit to go with it . . .NAD

P.S. . . .the badge is not crooked . . . it is the camera angle . . .

Great snares everybody!

Jeremy-you've had some super nice ones for sure! Yes, I still have the early acro. Probably my favorite snare drum.

Mike

Thanks Sneauman!

Three years ago I only owned one extra snare other than what came with the kits I owned. Thanks to this fine group of drumming enthusiasts (read as enablers :laughing6: ), my stable has grown. And, well over half of my Ludwig's came from forum members, or Steve (dimag333) from Russo Music.

late 50's transition badge Super Ludwig 5x14". Great drum on good days, but kinda finicky. Perhaps "operator error"... sold it a while back.

70's Ludwig 402 6.5x14". Don't play this one much these days, but I used to that's for sure!:

60's Acrolite 5x14". Nice drum. I should play it more.

Very nice. I especially like the fact that your 5x14 and 6.5x14 NOB Standards are not over polished. That is the way they should look.

Thanks! Believe it or not, I did put in (some) elbow grease in polishing those Standards, but stopped short of going crazy. Actually the 5x14" was really corroded and I'm not sure how much shinier it could even get. Here's the 'before' pics:
