I believe Remo took over the heads making for ludwig.
Silver Dot bass heads are back! (made by Remo) Not sure about the rest of the sizes. I just bought a ludwig nos original Silver dot 22 on Reverb.
Yes, Remo is now making all heads for US-made Ludwig drums...except for the 14" snare drum heads! Ludwig still recognizes that there is still a preference for their Weather Master heads on snare drums!

That's what I had heard...but I still say Ludwig always had Remo or Evans making their heads.
I dunno, bellbrass. No experience with Evans here. But Weather Master compared to Remo: different flesh hoops, different coating, different sound (IMHO, YMMV, etc.)...

I know & agree....but I've never seen pictures of Ludwig making heads in-house....but maybe they are out there.

The whole reason Ludwig heads are now limited to just a couple models is because their equipment for the less popular sizes is all worn out and too expensive to repair or replace. In other words, the only reason we're having this discussion about prices and limited availability is because Ludwig has been making their own heads FOR DECADES.

I'll pay any price, bear any burden ... Ludwig WM coated med. and extra-thin snare sides will breathe life into the deadest snare , make a good one stellar .
