Are the tops of the A and K Mastersounds the same as the New Beat or Regular K hats? Thinking about just getting a mastersound bottom for kicks and grins.

Lol. . .doing some hi hat innovations? I've looked at some different tops. . .Man, some are dang pricey new. I see a lot of mixed sets on Ebay. . .I know nothing about the Zildjian Z line.

And sorry, I can't answer your question at all

Oh yeah, you sold the nice Ks right? Made room for something new.

No, the company will say they are different setting off multiple reoccuring net chat forum discussions which will endure back and forth for 45 years over what are the differences...
One things for sure. They were matched as best as possible the day they left the testing room
..but what were they listening for not to hear....

Go forth boldly with your plan to secure a Mastersound bottom cymbal. The top cymbal (1246g) in my 14" K Mastersound set feels heavier than a New Beat top (which, I think should hover in the 1000g range). What the heck? Experimenting with them certainly won't give you an infectious disease.
