Got the 20" Max Roach at 9:20 this morn.

There are 10 t-rods bent to some extent.

1 wrong BD hoop.

Tom mount missing.

BD cymbal mount missing.

Extra holes from a Slingerland mid 60's double tom mount > (it looks like).

1 lug broken.

2 of the wing screws are broken off on the rail assembly. So,you can't use 1 of the "L" cymbal arms.Or a adjustment(not sure of what that does yet)

2 cigarette burns on the top of the BD.........

Still, I got 15 lugs with swivel inserts

16 claws/16 rods.

I need 1 lug and 1 claw and 1 rod on the set coming in from the UP.............so that will help.

Hey Guys,

Good to see you are hip to these fantastic (Italian) drums. So was Cobham. Check this out...

Congrats to your find, Blair !!
I understand your excitement ;-)

I am also one of the (lucky) persons who actually have a Meazzi/Hollywood President kit.

My kit was advertised as "beginner's kit", very cheap.
I bought it only from nostalgic reasons:
When I was a teenager (mid 70s, loong time ago) I took drum lessons at a Jazz Club in the big town next to were I lived.
We played on a small Hollywood kit back there, probably 18-12-14-14x5, in some silvery shimmer wrap as I remember them.
They had these weird hex t-rods, and we had to find a small wrench to tune them.

When I spotted the ad, I immediately recognized the Hollywood logo on the bassdrum, and a lot of great memories came up.

I always believed it to be some American brand, and then it turns out to be a rare ITALIAN brand.

My kit is 20" BD, 13"-Tom, 16"-FT, and a matching 5x14 wood snare with dual snare wires.
The finish is called "Legno Ondulato", a black-and-brass-oyster-looking wrap.
A Hollywood BD-pedal, snare stand and cymbal stand was included, but no HH-stand.
I´ve managed to find the HH-stand, and also another cymbal stand.

Thin 3-ply shells, made from what I believe is beech, no re-rings as yours, very round edges.
Sweeet woody vintage sound, similar to old Gretsch drums, especially the snare.

I really ought to take some decent pic's of it ...

The guy with the 22,12,13,16 Hollywood drums in the U.P. of Mich is just getting the boxes today shipped to his door from U-Haul.

If you order over $25 worth of stuff, they ship for free!

He said he is going to ship Friday...............I should have Monday..................

Can't wait!...

People,

Just done a bit of searching and found this link to Meazzi Hollywood stuff.

I have a complete Meazzi Hollywood kit from the early 70's. It's made out of 'mottled' clear perspex. It's an amazingly engineered (and looking!) kit. Take a look if you're interested.
