Looks like I’m starting an organ trio, not so much as jazz standards but more funky stuff like Soulive, Delvon Lamar, Etc.

You guys that are doing it, what’s on y’all’s set list beyond originals? Looking for stuff to fill out a 3+ hrs setlist until there’s enough original material.

And of course, pics of your trio kits are welcome, lol.

Man, as a lover of Hammonds (so much so as I bought a A101 with and 122 Leslie), that is definitely on my bucket list. Have a ball with that!

Larry Goldings or Niacin. Of corse the late, great Joey D!

Not in one myself but organ trios have long been a favorite. If you're familiar with Soulive I'm guessing Alan Evans Trio is already on your radar.

John Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentleman

Kyle Roussel Trio

First of all, RIP to Mr. Joey D. as modern master of the B3. Been lucky enough to see Dr. Lonnie Smith many times as well.
My go-to of course is the Jimmy Smith trio.

With that said, Medeski Martin and Wood are a killer modern band. Start with Combustication and Shack Man albums, both from the 90's....

I saw the Delvon trio a few years ago at Monterey jazz..... they were on fire!

I'm looking forward to checking out some of the bands posted above.

What if you take a piano trio and do an organ transplant?

He’s one of the top NY guys
Last saw him as the second organ with Joey De Francisco
No guitar.
Just 2 organs and a drummer.
Very cool

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio are like Spinal Tap. It seems like every month they have a new drummer. Very disappointed that guitarist Jimmy James left. That guy was a show unto himself.

Probably not what you're looking for, but a cool organ-centric song nonetheless...

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! Trying to get a first rehearsal date set and a handful of songs to start with. I’ll try to keep y’all updated.

I don't think I've seen this one mentioned, and probably more "standard-y" than you prefer, but ...

I love the Larry Goldings Trio with Bernstein and Stewart.
