I went to the Music City Drum Show in Nashville on August 7. It was my first time visiting individual Cymbal Smith booths.

My favorites (not in order):

1) Bronze Pie / Koide Cymbals / PGB Artisan Cymbals
A couple of Birk's Works Cymbals were probably my favorite at the show. They were not on my radar before. They had lots of personality without being twangy.
They had a Lauritsen, so I got to try one for the first time.
The Koide I played had a really interesting response. It was like it was gated. So cool and different.
PGB had a Turk style I really liked.

2) Nicky Moon
I really liked the "1" series rides. They sounded shimmery/classy/versatile. Like if Bosphorus and Paiste had a baby.

3) Mongiello Cymbals
To me, the specialty of Mongiello was the extremely-thin/washy/explosive cymbals crash/rides. Would be cool as a far-right cymbal in my mind.

4) Timothy Roberts Handcrafted Cymbals
Really nice/mature/versatile cymbals. Reminded me of 'Cymbal & Gong' brand. Curious of what he'll do in the future.

5) Byrne
I liked the flat ride they had. I hear demos that I like online, but generally don't like the normal rides in person?

These smiths all offered something unique. Was anyone else there?

Thanks for the report. I was on my way there, but stopped in Memphis at the Drum Shop instead (long drive, short weekend). Had my eye on some Byrne cymbals at the show.

The Byrne selection was small, at least by the time I got there. There is usually a little larger selection at Nelson's.
