very recently, to the point of being noticeable to my bandmates and audience members who have seen us play several times. I'm not bragging -- I'm not a great drummer by any means -- but it's the extent of the improvement (and how noticeable it is to me and must be to others) that surprises me.
The reason? I've lost 2 stone (30 lbs), am working on losing more, and am exercising hard and often. The effect on my mediocre drumming is very surprising, even if it should not be. I don't feel like I was significantly unhealthy before, but wow. The need for physical health in drumming is a well-travelled topic already. But I thought I would share this to confirm it helps, and how much!
Want to improve? Don't practice - just start lifting weights! LOL.
