My new baby kick

I'm generally not a big fan of tiny bass drums, but for various reasons I decided I need that option. So I found a Danmar riser on ebay at a great price, but when it arrived I discovered that it wouldn't work on my 16x13 tom, which started life as a marching snare drum. Took the riser to a local metal fabricating shop who took 2" out of the tube with the set screw. The resultant weld is kind of hard to spot, but it's as straight as can be. I

The other thing I'm tickled about is my cymbal mount made with a YESS tom arm, a clamp, and a long tilter. And this Saturday it'll get played in public. Haven't decided if I'll keep the flames yet.

I vote for keeping the flames. After all, the ability to accessorize is what sets humans apart from the rest of the animal kingdom.
