The new snare drum is everything I hoped for , soooo good. 20 ply 18 mm 13” x 5” cannon!

Love it.

Finally opened and played all day.

Throw off world class ,, fun fun :)
Beautiful drum, Doc. The finish is astounding!

Can you please explain how you did the layering of the different wood choices on this kit?

How did you arrive at those choices and order of layering you chose?

At any point did Pearl step in and say, "No, we recommend X here, then 2 Z's then a Y and an X again."? Or anything like that? Did they steer you at all to help you arrive at the sound you wanted?

For each drum different details were used that distinguishes one drum from the other while keeping it all in the same family ,, different bearing edges throughout and different wood configurations throughout ,, Different thicknesses throughout and African mahogany added to the bass drum.

I did a lot of testing on different Masterwork’s drums in person. And my tech who you know from Richies music center was also vital in helping me reach the exact sound that I wanted for each drum. I also have a contact at Pearl America, and that gentleman was HUGE in helping me make all the correct decisions.

And it came out absolutely fantastic, exactly to a T what I was looking for - ridiculously good company!

The snare drum just look at the inside of it :)

What’s extra cool about the Masterwork’s drum’s , is if you look through the air hole it’s a direct visual to the certificate inside the drum, great details!

Ok todays latest - new arrivals , a couple of beautiful stack cymbals.

I run quite a bit of different types of effect symbols , most can be found on my LP GALAXY or MAPEX ORION ,,, a few on a couple other kits.

I was going to put one of the new ones on this beautiful Pearl Masterworks kit ,, but just couldn’t do it , when people come over they’re completely blown away how little is on this set , yet how big of a statement this drum set makes. I can’t even express how this thing looks in person.

The artisan blue burst over the exotic black Limba is eye-popping in real time.

And I always say the less you have to hit the better you are forced to play. Here are a few new pictures from tonight.

It’s true, sometimes less is so much more.

@Steech , read the above post ^^^ you’ll love it!

To answer your question the smooth whites are going to sound the absolute best on your six lugger in my opinion.

BUT , the Fiberskyn diplomat especially , and or the Fiberskyn ambassador …. Judging by the sound I believe you migrate towards , would be a match made in heaven for you ,, Snap crackle pop with complete control sensitivity and feel, one of my favorite heads for snare drums.

Sounds ridiculous on the Black Panthers - Here’s a video of a fantastic drummer, who I know you know, and quite frankly the best drum set in the world today - with Fiberskyn ambassador’s ,, again I like the diplomats a tad bit more.

In fact for the New Year ,, Call Richie’s music Center 973-625-2500 ask for AJ and order yourself one of each the diplomat and the ambassador on me. No charge no shipping. Happy new year buddy!

EDIT , here is the diplomat , man that drum set is nice :)

Someone once told me, if you want Ambassador performance from your Fiberskyn head, get the Diplomat version.
The coating is so thick, it can really kill the performance of the normal Ambassador head. I found that out the hard way.
I really enjoy FA's as bass drum batter heads, though.

You are correct Elvis . The Fiberskyn Diplomats are wonderful heads full of life and very warm and feel nice to play . Better stick response than the Fiberskyn Ambassadors .

Nice, I did not know we were fellow Fiberskyn aficionados! I run them on my 70's 3 ply Slingerlands and severl snares, really love them both, but I do tend to lean into the Ambassador more just for the better life span.

Yes you and I “talked” about it in that “long thread” ,, you were all excited when you saw them on my landing pad lol :)

There is just a very small difference between the two, I understand the comments above by others, but it’s really like an ambassador versus an ambassador X .. Well when I put it that way , maybe there’s a little bit more than a little bit of a difference , but it’s still a little bit of a difference :) and both are excellent!

For those who can deal with how nuts I am with all this playing each day and then pictures when I’m done playing later that night , there’s a slight difference in this picture from the others and I love it! For those who don’t care I’m very sorry :)

Your right, I remember that now. I've slept since then and tend too be a tad forgetful. See, I was excited TWICE, that's double fun for me!!
