It looks just like a Gretsch Renown metal snare seen in the '41 catalog.

Seems like I remember reading that Gretsch did some private label drums early on.

That's a Gretsch "Renown" all-metal snare. Probably sold thru a jobber as per the badge. They're a lot like the Ludwig Pioneer and Leedy Reliance of the era. Nice find Jim.
Just wanted to add that the original hoops are made of a softer brass and will crack under pressure so be careful.

Leedy throw?
That would be the "Made in England" throw that shows up on early Rogers. It's a copy of the Leedy Presto, but not exactly the same.
Early vintage drum articles said they were Leedys, but they weren't.
