Guys,

Does anyone have any of the hex bolts used to secure the small lugs on a RB 13 inch shell?

I need around 12 if anyone has for sale.

Many thanks,
Retro

I'd take one to the hardware store match up maybe with a round head or..? Are they self-tapping/ shaped? I've never taken one out/kinda/ afraid/ won't go back in.. is that true? or wives tale

LOL....Wives tale. I only had enough original ones in my parts box for the top set of lugs.

I had to use slotted screws for the bottom set of lugs, but I want to change them out to hex so that its all original and consistent.

I understand that... do the hex go in and out no trouble? thxs
hex heads are post 68 on RB.

Are the hex heads threaded all the way to the end? Or is there self-tap points/ at the end (lol hard to describe.. anyone got a hex head removed pic.

JDA....thanks, yes, I thought of that, but actually I dont want to spend alot. I could just leave the drum as is...the top row are hex bolts, the bottom row slotted screws. Id bet *some* Gretsch drums came out of the factory just like that, too.

what would you spend a lot on, in a nickle and dime respectable ; ) hardware store.
screws like that are like 3 cents apiece if found..
I'm tellin ya You measure it--and start looking
Do the Hex heads come out and go back in with no trouble (like the Round heads?

JDA: I know, but see, I'd like to keep the drum authentic, which it is at the moment...every part on it is an original 1960s Gretsch part. Lunatic that I am, I even took off the shiny new Maxwell diamond plate, and replaced it with an original 1960s plate with some battle scars. I also removed the Maxwell repro spur mounts, because I found a set of original Gretsch in my parts bins afterwards.

the screws authentically actually came from an outside source
what i'd check is see if they're 'still out there..
Then again all our town's hardware stores have closed..
Home Depot or a smaller store

You show me a picture (I ain't taking one out from a 68 RB tom I have- I don't have confirmation it will go back in) And I'll find the identical online

This. Show us a picture of the needed screws and the measurements and I'll bet that one of us will find them.

See those are self-tapping wouldn't you say Gee Dee Em?>
what size Head does that look like..

Definitely the self-tapping variety, but the kind without the "notch" in them. My wife and I used to have an auto parts store and I have a screw manual somewhere, but it's going to be easier to find it on the internet.

We need some kind of clue as to the size, though. It's impossible to judge from the picture. Let me browse around in my parts boxes and see what I can find in the old lugs and hardware I still have.
