Just picked up a new old stock Keller maple 14x5 shell. I cut edges using a router table (45 with slight back cut). Used a basic drum template map for hardware and had a local artist do the design. However I have one question. The drum sounds great. Just like any old maple snare. Nothing special. But I cut the snare beds using a file by hand. Is there a easier and more accurate way to do this without some kind of expensive gear??

I bought a a sanding drum kit from Harbor Freight ($26) that had several diameters. After laying out the profile I wanted, I mounted the largest drum in a drill press and made quick and easy work out of the snare bed. It’s also very easy to put a sort of bearing edge in the snare bed itself with this tool.

Thanks for the tip! Harbor freight is almost as dangerous to my wallet as a drum shop !!

Also which kit was it? Thanks in advance.
