I just paid for this drum last night, should have it by the end of the week. Its a Leedy and Ludwig knob tension snare from 1951 (I think) with WMP wrap. The only drums I have ever seen like this was at Rockin Robins in Houston and they were ins a glass case as if they were super rare. Never thought I would be owning one but I saw it on Facebook and nabbed it!

that is one handsome drum.
wasn't this the tuning system that failed and made conn say to heck with drums and sold ludwig their name back?

That's nuts. Love to see a video of you tuning it. Congrats.
Well, I dont know how to make a video but here is one from the guy I bought the drum from. The drum in the video is now mine!

Quite the tuning ingenuity, how well does it work?

I dont have the drum yet but it did not turn out good for Leedy &Ludwig, it was a fail. So that said I dont expect it to work good but will be happy to let you know after I try it out.

Such a beautiful looking snare, nice piece of history, and in incredible condition

can't really tune it yet, I need to adjust the wires first, they are very loose and the strainer is maxed out. One of the barrels that the tuning rod threads into is stripped so I need to fix that too.
