Better pics.

I had the privilige to check them out in person and the Spruce kit got my attention immediately. Fat, punchy and old school. Loved it. The others are also great but I didnt have much time to spend.

And there is more to come......

SLP kits are a confusing move for Tama in terms of where this kit fits within their lineup. Is it meant to compete with the Superstar Classic and Hyperdrive midrange kits, or somewhere between those and Starclassic?

Or is just another choice all by itself? The quality level is hard to know from these pics.

I do like the idea of wooden hoops on an entire kit from one of the big 4 drum companies.

Is it me...or do those new tom mounts look an awful lot like the INDe Labs designed tom mounts?

Tama makes some fantastic drums, but I must say I am not blown away by the finish options on these.

Thank you. I love the 14" bass drums. The spruce kits are very interesting to me. Definitely something I'll check out when they are on the market.

No 18x22 bass drums!
That's a nice move. I don't care for the bd tom mount but I could live with it. I just hope they hang around for a while. Tama has a habit of discontinuing finishes every two years.
The 13/16/22 Spruce kit looks interesting.

Be nice if they start letting you get those triple flanged hoops in their higher end models.

The Kapur kit looks interesting. I also like the flat base hihat , lightweight snare stand and the folding bass drum pedal.

Agree. I'm not a big fan of die cast hoops on toms. Those Spruce shells would really growl with triple flanged hoops.
I looked for a set of 14" Sound Arc hoops for a snare drum and no one has them in stock.

Club Customs!
Probably at a much lower price point. I wonder what the edge profile is?

Spruce is a pretty soft wood. Softer than poplar and most gum woods, I think.
Should be interesting to hear how they sound.
